Trump Announces 3-Day Russia–Ukraine Ceasefire
The former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has declared a ceasefire period between Russia and Ukraine lasting three days. The ceasefire will start on May 9 and continue until May 11.
In this regard, this ceasefire occurs on Victory Day which is a day of remembrance of those who were involved in World War II. In this case, there will be no hostilities on the part of both sides for three days.
Under the agreement, both countries will release 1,000 prisoners each to ease tensions and promote good relations between the two states.
Prior to this agreement, there had been plans by Russia for a temporary cessation in the fighting as well as by Ukraine. The U.S. former President, Donald Trump, believes that this will be an important milestone towards attaining peace between the two sides.
